Konica Minolta Signs on as Title Sponsor
of the Face-Off Classic
The Konica Minolta Face-Off Classic presented by The Baltimore Sun will be played on
March 1, 2008, at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore
Baltimore, MD. and Ramsey, N.J. – November 7, 2007 – Bob Carpenter, Publisher of Inside Lacrosse, announced today that Konica Minolta Business Solutions U.S.A, Inc., a leading provider of imaging and networking technologies, is the title sponsor of the Face-Off Classic. The Konica Minolta Face-Off Classic presented by The Baltimore Sun will be played on March 1, 2008, at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore.
In just its second year, the Konica Minolta Face-Off Classic signals the start of the lacrosse season for the game’s growing fan base. This event includes the top names in men’s college lacrosse, featuring the four teams that have won every NCAA Championship since 1991: Johns Hopkins, Princeton, Syracuse and Virginia. The first game of the Konica Minolta Face-Off Classic will start at 12:00 p.m. EST on March 1 with Virginia playing Syracuse. The second game will get underway at 2:30 p.m. with Johns Hopkins facing Princeton. Johns Hopkins – the defending national champion – is pre-season ranked No. 1. Virginia is ranked No. 3, Princeton is at No. 8, and Syracuse is ranked No. 11.
Inside Lacrosse also announced that The Baltimore Sun has signed on as a presenting sponsor of the event. As a principle media partner, The Sun will help build awareness for the event and the beginning of another exciting college lacrosse season.
The inaugural Face-Off Classic (March 3, 2007) was one of the break-out success stories of 2007. The event marked the first time that the top-four ranked lacrosse teams in the nation faced off in one place to begin the season. A total of 20,180 fans attended the games, breaking the regular season attendance record for college lacrosse.
